Joe Daley’s is a great place to go to for hockey memorabilia. Located just a few minutes south of downtown Winnipeg, you’ll find free parking outside the cozy and clean, south-facing shop.
I was lucky to visit on a Saturday afternoon and had the privilege of talking to Joe Daley himself. Former NHL goalie for Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, and Detroit Red Wings. He gave that all up to come back home to Winnipeg, the city he was born, to raise his family. He may have given up his NHL career, but his hockey career was far from over.
If you’re a hockey fan, you probably know that Joe Daley was one of the original Winnipeg Jets players. He signed with the Jets and suited up for their very first season in 1972-73.
He may have never won a Stanley Cup, but he helped the Jets win 3 championships in his 7 year run with the team. And he was also a part of the short-lived World Hockey Association, which, in its 7-year something, changed the NHL for the better.
If you want to hear more, I suggest you find out when Joe Daley is in the store and go chat with him yourself.
Joe Daley’s sports cards
As far as sports cards go, Joe Daley’s the store, has both old and new collecting cards.
Card collecting supplies, perfect for keeping your valuables in prime condition.
New packs of hockey, baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and wrestling cards.
A great place to find out more about the history of hockey, baseball, and football.
Joe Daley’s Framing
Joe Daley’s began as a sports card store 29 years ago in Winnipeg’s Osborne Village. It soon moved and spent 24 years near the Polo Park shopping mall.
Today, you’ll find the store where it’s been for the last 5 years: 513 St. Mary’s Road.
And although the store still carries hockey and baseball cards, they’ve found that framing sports pictures and memorabilia is a better way to pay the bills.
Their work is spectacular! And it’s not just men who come in to pick up these masterpieces for their “man caves.” Joe told me that more and more women are getting into sports, especially hockey.
We have the Winnipeg Jets, can you blame them?
Did you see that epic Bobby Orr picture above in the bottom lefthand corner?
So whether you’re looking for brand new sports cards, vintage cards, or a piece of framed memorabilia for your walls, go and see Joe Daley’s Sports & Framing at 513 St. Mary’s Road. They’re open six days a week.
